Add your Expedy XPDY80 printer to your account
The Expedy XPDY80 is a cloud receipt printer that goes online on its own over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G. Adding it to your account takes about a minute and gives you the UID that every integration and the API rely on.
Depending on the connector or the point-of-sale software you use, the installation may be handled by your partner. Check with them before you start.
Before you begin
- An Expedy account, no account yet? Create one
- The printer powered on and connected to the internet, see Internet connection
- The serial number of the machine, to hand
Step 1, Open the add printer screen
Sign in to the Expedy console, then go to Devices, Printers, + Add New Printer. You can also open the form directly.
Step 2, Choose the printer type
In the Type row, click the Expedy XPDY80 Printer card, marked with the XPDY80 badge. The selected card turns red.
Step 3, Name the printer and enter its serial number
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Printer name | A label you will recognise in your list, for example Kitchen, Counter or Shop 2 |
| Serial number | The serial number beginning with PRN, printed on the test ticket or shown on the printer LCD screen |
From a phone, the Scan the printer QR code button and the Scan button next to the field read the serial number for you instead of typing it.
Step 4, Select the paper width
Choose 58 mm, 80 mm or 104 mm. This value must match the roll actually loaded in the machine, otherwise your receipts will be cut off or printed off-centre.
Step 5, Submit and check
Click Submit. The printer is created and appears in your printer list with its UID, the identifier used by every integration and by the API.
Open the printer page and check two things:
- In the Check Status card (Real-time diagnostic), click Check Status. The printer should come back Online, with the date of the last check, the signal quality and, if something is wrong, the reason: out of paper, cover open, cutter error or overheating.
- Run a Quick test print from the Print Jobs History panel and check that the ticket comes out. See Send a test print request.
If the status comes back Offline or No response received, go back to Internet connection: port 1883 must be open in both directions, and Wi-Fi only works on the 2.4 GHz band.
Lift the FREE plan limit
A newly added printer runs on the FREE plan, capped at 50 print requests per month. To go further, open the printer page and click Subscribe to reach the Choose your plan screen.
| Plan | Included volume |
|---|---|
| FREE | 50 requests per month |
| START | 1 000 per month, 12 000 per year |
| PRO | 3 000 per month, 36 000 per year |
| UNLIMITED | unlimited |
Current rates are shown on expedy.io/pricing and in the Choose your plan screen.
The Monthly and Yearly toggle switches between the two billing modes. A yearly plan counts the allowance over the whole year rather than month by month, which suits seasonal activity. Beyond 100 printers, the Enterprise option offers custom volume pricing.
Printers installed before 30 April 2026 without a subscription are flagged LEGACY. They keep their historical pricing, have no monthly limit, and the subscription screen is hidden for them. To move a LEGACY printer to a current plan, contact support.
